“Imagine not being able to use your toilet or even take a shower.
That’s what some are dealing with in a Shannon Hills neighborhood.
In February 2020, KATV spoke with homeowners who dealt with overflowing sewage in their yards. And it’s happening again. This time, it’s affecting at least 15 homes in the Valley Ridge neighborhood, according to Shannon Hills Public Works Director Jeff Reed.
Reed said they have determined it’s not a main break or stoppage, but the issue is still under investigation.
Dana Johnson, a nurse, contacted Seven On Your Side after getting tired of dealing with the mess for the past three weeks.
“The sewer is backing up into the toilets,” she said. “Both toilets that are in the house, it’s bubbling in the commodes. Just a horrible, foul smell. I come home, I work different shifts sometimes … I’m unable to take a bath at night.””

If multiple homes are dealing with sewage backups then the main issue lies somewhere in the sewer system. The fact this happened a little over a year ago in the same community is unacceptable. No one seems to want to take responsibility leaving homeowners and renters to deal with the mess. When it comes to sanitation, issues need to be resolved immediately to prevent health-related problems.
